猛暑 -- Livermoreの最高気温は45℃以上

7/22 (土), 記録的な猛暑に見舞われる。

Downtown San Jose registered 102 degrees, breaking the previous record of 99 set in 1917. San Francisco hit 87, also surpassing a 1917 record of 81.

Downtown Oakland was 94 (34.4 degC), breaking the 1974 mark of 82. Redwood City reached 99, three degrees higher than the record set in 1954.

The hottest temperature in the Bay Area was 109 in Gilroy, toppling the previous record of 106, set in 1996, the National Weather Service said. Normally cool San Rafael broke a 1954 record of 95 (35 degC) when temperatures reached 108 (42 degC). Commercial weather sources recorded even higher temperatures in some places, including 114 (45.5 degC) in Morgan Hill and Antioch.

この日はTVなどで「暑いから、外出しないで、おとなしく家にいなさい」としきりに呼びかけていたらしい (TVがないのでわからないが)。確かに朝８時から猛暑／真夏日のようで、夕方に学校の裏山, Dishへ歩きに行ったときも、「今日は頂上は異様な温度だから、一周全部歩くのはやめたほうがいい」と監視員に言われた。そこへは夕方に行ったのだが、さしずめ昼間に誰か、数人くらい倒れて病院へ担ぎ込まれたのだろう。。

ということで、今日のトレーニングは場所を変えて平地で行った。それでも頭がクラクラするくらい暑い。。。。日本の夏のように妙な湿気があったりするし。

さて、日曜日も土曜日ほどではないが、猛暑になるようである。
